a list of what i done/do/did (a weekend is only three nights and two days)
1
walked afternoon nature preserve with wife. night swim then steam.
2
hit estate sale with saturday arrowheads and stolen railroad signs and world war one games for children made out of cardboard.
3
wife asked about metal sculpture my best friend from high school made during his senior year. so i told the story about what happened the day before i went to his funeral.
4
late-afternoon nap with a.m. radio baseball announcers meandering into dreams…but not so easy sleeping when the world is swaying beneath me.
5
pissed next to oprah glammed and resplendent on grass with open camper (no bugs or screens or doors or spiders). some article about how to simplify and organize and gorgeous-ize my life so i can be happhappappier.
6
realized i have survived sixty years on the not-easy coast trying to program me beyond recognition with mantras like work first, play later and too much fun engenders lack of societal respect.
9
couldn’t sleep at night cause of nap. so pinballed through childhood with eyes closed. saw grandmother singing about bears going over mountains. to see what they could see. this zen koan explains why she never moved from anthracite hills of pennsylvania.
10
wife woke me sunday snoring by saying rise and shiny. only my tongue felt like lasagna that’s been frozen and then thawed.
11
and on the drive to work i thought about the stuff i should have done/do/did: three piles of molding laundry. tumbleweeds in the garage. two credit card bills. kick together new will. and i remembered my dead dad’s irish saying, “there’s all next week not even touched.”
